Ladies Ministry of the Du Quoin United
Pentecostal Church is lead by Ashley Cook. We are involved in many
aspects of our church including dinners, fundraisers, and celebrations.
Our ladies meet four times a year to plan our yearly schedule and discuss
upcoming events. We always enjoy these meetings with food, good fellowship,
and something special each time such as our annual "swap meet" where
we trade items we are no longer using as well as our Christmas ornament
exchange each November. Fundraisers each year include our famous peanut
brittle and apple butter, chocolate-covered strawberry bouquets, yard sale, and
monthly after-service dinners to name a few. Each fall you will
find our church represented at the John A. Logan Festival selling some of these
goodies as we have for many years. The Southern Illinois Men's Conference
is also a large project for the Ladies' Ministry. We have many
responsibilities involved with this busy weekend, but we enjoy working together
as a team and the fellowship it brings. Funds for Mother's Memorial
are raised through the hard work of compiling a Mother's Day photo
presentation which we use not only as a fundraiser for this cause, but as a
tool to help honor the mothers past and present of our
church."
"The Ladies Ministry is very much used and
appreciated in this church for all their hard work. As ladies, our
ministry doesn't always present itself in an easy or well-shaped fashion.
Sometimes it takes a lot of work and getting your hands a little dirty, but
we're all so glad God has blessed us with the ability to do so for Him!"
